GB WIN QUALIFIERS IN WORLD TUMBLING CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Fantastic performances from the Great Britain team of Sarah Bellis, Donna Macean, Zoe MacLean and Samantha Palmer saw them qualify for Friday’s World Championships Team Finals in 1st place after some sensational performances in the Tumbling qualifiers. Kathryn Peberdy was unable to compete after her second operation to her foot last week, but saw a terrific team performance to tie with the Russian’s on 195.20 and qualify in first position due to the higher difficulty. Samantha Palmer competed in only her second competition after being out for over 12 months injured, and it is fantastic to see the former World Age Group and European Champion back on form, and qualify in third place in the individual event. Zoe MacLean was superb and finished in 5th place and also qualify for the Individual Finals, with Donna and Sarah in 12th and 13th positions with great performances. GB now lead the field into the World Championships Final! The USA finished in 3rd place with France and Ukraine also qualifying for the Team Finals.
Olena Chabanenko from the Ukraine was in stunning form and her difficulty on her Salto run was 8.2 and her twisting run, an incredible 9.4, to score a fantastic 68.10! Anna Korobeynikova also included great tarrif’s of 7.2 and 8.3 in her runs to finish in second position, with Sam third. Both the Team and Individual Finals will be nail biting affairs but a master class in tumbling, as the best in the World go head to head for the World Championships.
Congratulations to all of the gymnasts, especially the British Team, and good luck in the Finals! Full results appear below!
